When in install windows i have any partitions deleted, just all one hard drive, and i format the drive as well so i only end up with the windows install. This guess is based on the fact that every time i run into a master boot record problem i install ubuntu linux and then install my windows and all is well. In my mind i have it narrowed down to the master boot record. The only thing that i can think of is that ubintu makes some sort of changes to the hard drive and that forces windows to act differently on the install. Yes, i install ubuntu linux whenever i have problems such as this and for some others. I dont know why i didnt think of this because i do it often.
